Director's Message

MGM Eye Institute, a not for profit organization has successfully completed eleven eventful years with hard work, team work, dedication, knowledge sharing and strong commitment from the employees and delivered high quality comprehensive eye care services in a professional way without sacrificing humanity, shared knowledge with others to meet the milestones without any compromise. The main aim is to create world-class infrastructure and providing quality comprehensive eye care services which are available to all irrespective of one’s socio-economic status. All categories of patients viz. paying, non-paying are treated with respect and dignity. We intend to be a self-sustaining organization and committed to provide 50% of our services totally free of cost to the needy patients who could not afford to pay for their services.


We have state-of-the art equipments for advanced diagnostic and treatment procedures for all kinds of eye disease treatment. In the past seventeen years we have examined about 6,63,526 patients and performed over 81,012 surgeries including around 7,791 pediatric surgeries. We are running regular OPD and round the clock emergency services. Our mission is to provide high quality eye care services totally free of cost to the economically underprivileged patients and since inception, the institute has so far provided services to the underprivileged and economically weaker section of population worth rupees more than 24 Crores totally free of cost which includes major surgeries like Cataract, Glaucoma, Vitreo-retina, Keratoplasty (Corneal transplantation), and Oculoplasty. All types of ocular trauma cases are being performed by our ophthalmologists of repute. We have named our Community Outreach Programme as ‘MGM Anjor Mela’ and under this banner we will provide community eye care services to the rural population residing in every corner of the state. The need of the hour is to treat two important eye diseases viz. Diabetic Retinopathy and Retinopathy of Prematurity; our institute is committed to treat those cases in camp mode on regular basis.


Apart from the clinical services we are giving emphasis on education activity. We believed that our employee’s skills and expertise for high quality service delivery can be sustained through continued education. Morning classes are being held regularly for all categories of staff with routine assessments. All the clinical & surgical cases are recorded for education purpose. The institute is offering DNB course (equivalent to MS/MD) by National Board of Examinations, New Delhi, 2-year fellowship in various ophthalmology disciplines also one-year internship for Optometry students who come from different parts of the country. To develop skilled paramedical manpower the institute is providing one year Vision Technician training and Ophthalmic Nursing Assistant Training. Moreover, the Institute is also recognized as Training Centre for Government States’ Medical Colleges/Union territories Ophthalmologists and we have already trained 80 Ophthalmologists from different states in various cataract surgical procedures. Our Consultants have been regularly presenting research papers and lectures in various state, national and international forums and also awarded by national/international ophthalmic society/organizations for their clinical expertise.


We are committed to extend our primary eye care services to the rural population residing in villages of the state also wish to extend our services to establish a rehabilitation center for blind and a center for research. Moreover, we would like to develop highly skilled human resource for eye care and contribute in treating curable blindness.
