At MGM Eye Institute, Raipur, we are committed to provide exceptional care for premature infants at risk of Retinopathy of Prematurity (ROP). Our specialized ROP program is backed by cutting-edge infrastructure, highly trained professionals, and a multidisciplinary approach that ensures the best outcomes for our tiny patients.
Our team of experienced vitreoretinal surgeons, anesthesiologist, fellows, and paramedical staff work collaboratively to provide comprehensive care for ROP. Our specialists are trained in the latest treatment modalities, including laser therapy, intravitreal injections, and advanced vitreoretinal surgical techniques whenever needed.
In order to manage the barriers to access to ROP screening, MGMEI has extended its ROP services to all parts of Raipur district and to the neighbouring districts as well. Currently, we are covering 12 NICUs with ROP care.
Since inception of this program in January 2016, we have screened 12,406 premature babies for ROP and 5631 (45.8%) babies were found to have the disease of ROP. (Updated till July 2024)
MGMEI has successfully treated 1016 premature infants with ROP
ROP care does not stop at screening and treatment of preterm babies. Most of these infants develop refractive errors and need glasses. We ensure long-term follow up for these infants to make sure that their visual rehabilitation is taken care of by our expert pediatric ophthalmologist.
